Donations to Secondary Schools (Fachima Hall)
We have kindly donated many computers and monitors and many computer peripherals to the Fachima Hall. Fachima Hall is a secondary school in the district and there students will be using the computers for learning.
Donations to Fourah Bay College (FBC)
Fourah Bay College (FBC), the premier college of the University of Sierra Leone(USL), has today Wednesday 19th January, 2022 enjoyed another fruits of the labor by receiving a donation from one of its Alumni, Professor Ing. Juldeh Sesay. The donation ceremony which took place at the FBC Strasse-King Building , Mount Aureol, Freetown, comprised items of 30(thirty) Desktop Computers for the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture , and text books of recent publications for the College Library. Juldeh Sesay who is a Research Associate Professor in Mechanical Engineering at the Stony Brook University in the United States of America, graduated with a First Class Honors Degree in Mechanical Engineering at FBC in 1990. Upon graduation in 1990, Ign. Sesay lectured in the Mechanical Engineering Department at FBC for a year , and later had a scholarship opportunity to further his studies overseas where he has lived to date.
In expressing appreciation to Ing. Sesay on behalf of the College Administration, the Assistant Deputy Vice Chancellor (I) of FBC, Professor John Abdul Kargbo who deputised the Deputy Vice Chancellor of FBC at the ceremony, thanked Ing. Sesay for activating his gesture of goodwill towards the college. He also said that it is high time Alumni of the college contributed to the development of their alma mater. ‘’I strongly believe that our contributions as Alumni of this historic college are needed in helping to regain its rightful academic spot in society,’’ he added. In his speech as chairman at the donation ceremony, the Dean of Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, Professor Kelleh Gbawuru Mansaray also expressed warm appreciation to Ing. Sesay for his admirable display of gesture to his alma mater. He mentioned that Ing. Sesay has always been in touch with the faculty, disclosing that he donated 300( three hundred) text books to the Faculty of Engineering in 2020, which are valuably utilized by Undergraduate Students, Postgraduate Candidates, and PhD Candidates of the Faculty.
Professor Kelleh further said that the donation of the computers came in at a much-needed time , as the faculty in collaboration with its Partners have recently established an Innovation Hub that needs additional computers to facilitate its operations . He added that the donated computers will also aid the faculty’s plan of establishing a modernized computer lab for its students. Speaking as the Acting Librarian of FBC, the Librarian One of FBC, Mr. Donald Davies also extended his appreciation to Ing. Sesay for his donation of books to the College Library, stating that the process of adding relevant collections of books in a library is the most important instruments in keeping it functional. He also encouraged students to make the visitation of the Library a habit.
Responding to the warm messages received for his donation, and also officially presenting his donated items to the Administration, Ing. Sesay said that his action is a payback gesture to a college which gave him a solid foundation to become an outstanding engineer. He further encouraged the students present at the ceremony to dedicate time to their studies , unhesitatingly stating that the college provides one of the best academic foundations of tertiary education in the world. Sesay humbly asked fellow alumni to consider giving back to their alma mater , saying that it will aid the college’s structural development. He also calmly disclosed his plans of donating 50(fifty) Desktop computers to the Faculty next year. In giving the vote of thanks, the Acting Deputy Registrar of FBC, Mr. Ibrahim Conteh also joyously extended the college’s appreciation to Ing. Sesay, and encouraged fellow Alumni to emulate Ing. Sesay’s outstanding action of giving back to his alma mater. The donation ceremony was also colorfully graced by students, some academic staff of the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture , and the wife of Juldeh Sesay.
